Raining Cats & Dogs is located in an historic church at the corner of Broad and Geneva Streets, one block north of Main Street. Along with our pet boutique, there are a variety of shops in the church, including; Doodlebugs, Geneva Java, In All Her Glory, The Lake Geneva School of Cooking and The Parsonage.

Geneva Village Shops

This location is the original site of the First Baptist Church. It was founded in 1840, nine years after Lake Geneva was settled in May 1831. This church was built in 1910. The parsonage was moved from its original location on Main Street to this site soon after the present church was built.

The congregation voted to sell the church building in 1997. Shortly after, it was renovated and made into a collection of shops and boutiques.

Still present are the church's original stained glass windows. These windows are opalescent glass - the same type developed by John La Farge and Louis Tiffany. In order to make the glass either smoky or chalky, various amounts of soda ash were added to the pot of molten glass. Bright color oxides were also added and swirled throughout the sheet as the glass was poured. Most of the glass at this time was made in Long Island, NY and New Jersey. These windows reflect the "Art Nouveau" form which uses nature as symbols; flower shapes are used predominately.
